The ACOI wishes to develop its members’ soft skills to facilitate effective planning, communication and training. Increasingly the compliance practitioner provides training on a systemic basis or an ad-hoc basis.

Effective training requires a unique skill set, one that can be taught. Following on from the success of this workshop and requests from members we have decided to run this workshop again. As such we are pleased to invite you to this practical and interactive workshop.

This workshop will impart the skills and techniques needed to design, deliver and evaluate training provided by and to compliance practitioners.

Topics to be Covered:

• Training requirements: identification and analysis of training needs.
• Training programme design: methodology and framework for designing a training programme including getting buy-in from key stakeholders.
• Training delivery: different methods of training delivery e.g. online, face-to-face.
• Evaluation of training: measuring the effectiveness of the training.
• Training records: ensuring training delivered is accurately tracked and recorded.
• Worked examples of compliance related training applying these principles.
• Tips and useful tools for the compliance professional.



Fiona Murphy, Vhi

Having begun her career in Vhi in July 2005, Fiona has over 13 years experience working in the health insurance industry. After starting as an adviser in the contact centre, Fiona spent almost 6 years working as a Learning & Development Specialist providing a range of training solutions from product, system and soft skills training before specialising in the provision of lectures and support to those completing insurance exams under the MCC. In June 2012, Fiona took up the role of Compliance Manager with responsibility for the establishment of the Vhi Compliance Function and the design and implementation of the compliance framework for the organisation. Fiona was responsible for the day-to-day management of the Compliance Function as well as the management of a team of Compliance Leads and Specialists. Fiona also worked on the authorisation of Vhi Insurance DAC and Vhi Healthcare DAC and was the dedicated Compliance Officer for Vhi Healthcare DAC. In January 2018, Fiona took up the role of Learning and Development Manager where she is responsible for developing and implementing the Learning & Development Plan for the insurance group of companies within Vhi as well as managing the study assistance scheme and the overall training budget. Working with managers from across the business, Fiona helps them to identify and agree learning solutions and leads all ad-hoc organisational projects from a training perspective as well as managing the team of Learning & Development Specialists.

Fiona holds the Diploma and MSc in Compliance, a Diploma in Private Medical Insurance and the APA General and APA Life qualifications as well as an MBA from the Smurfit Business School.
