Regulatory movement towards “AML effectiveness assessment” means that organisations must now be able to demonstrate that their processes are delivering the right results and importantly their culture is delivering the right behaviours.  Finding a rapid, cost effective and thorough way to develop a documented understanding of the prevailing AML culture in any organisation has, to date, proved to be an elusive objective.
This seminar considers the use of an AML Cultural Diagnostic tool that has been developed by UCC researchers in collaboration with an Industry working group. The Central Bank has been very supportive of the research since its inception and invited the developers to showcase their solution at the CBI’s March briefing on AML supervisory engagement.
The Diagnostic provides a deep understanding of AML behavioural strengths and weaknesses and how it is impacting AML compliance. It is a quick, cost-effective, organisation wide survey based solution that leverages methodologies used by NASA for assessing abstract concepts.
The outputs from the Diagnostic provide a detailed picture of the institution’s AML compliance culture identifying where remediation or compliance correction is required. These outputs can be used to demonstrate to regulators that the appropriate steps are being taken to deliver the right AML culture.
Periodically repeating the diagnostic enables the institution to establish benchmarks and identify trends and changes in its AML culture.
