Programme Information

The MSc in Compliance is designed to give compliance and other control professionals the skills they need to implement effective compliance structures, and enhance the overall internal governance structures of organisations. Participants to date have been middle or senior management in a control function (compliance audit, credit and treasury).

Throughout the design phase of the programme there was extensive discussion with industry and compliance professionals. In fact there is ongoing engagement with industry to ensure it meets their evolving needs.

All modules are taught by recognised leaders in the particular subject/module area. Students will study six modules over three semesters for a Graduate Diploma in Compliance. Those who achieve an honours award classification in the Graduate Diploma are eligible for the award of a MSc in Compliance on the successful completion of two additional modules.

Holders of the MSc in Compliance are invited to apply to become Fellows of the Compliance Association in Ireland (FCOI). Continued use of the FCOI designation is subject to meeting annual CPD requirements.

This programme has received Summit Finuas Network funding since its inception in 2014. Funding for 2016 intake is approved for a limited number of places and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Funding for 2017 modules is subject to 2017 Network funding approval.

The Summit Finuas Network is part of the Finuas Networks Programme, managed by Skillnets Ltd, whose aim is to support the sector in maintaining Ireland’s position as a top international financial services centre, through ongoing investment in the development of the skills and expertise of this workforce. This recognition of the programme highlights the need for suitably qualified persons in an area considered as strategically important.

“Having completed the Professional Diploma in Compliance in 2008 I was keen to take the next step with my own personal development and career progression so the MSc in Compliance was the perfect choice for me. I have just completed year one and have really enjoyed  the interactive engagement between the lecturers, students and guest speakers.

I found the group assignments a great way to get to know like minded professionals and offered insight into the practices of other financial institutions. The clever timetable has helped me manage the study along with maintaining full time work and a family life.”Mark O’Connor, Assurance Manager, Ulster Bank Ireland
