    ‘ACOI submission in response to the Central Banks’ Consultation Paper 128

    The ACOI responded to the Central Banks’
    recent consultation on the ‘Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the
    Financing of Terrorism for the Financial Sector’ Guidelines (‘AML
    Guidelines 2019’) via Consultation Paper 128(‘CP128’).  ACOI welcomed the
    opportunity to comment on the AML Guidelines 2019, a very important regulatory
    document, which will shape the AML/CFT activities in the firms our members’
    work in and will be a key enabler of our members in their day-to-day role. This
    submission was drafted by the Financial Crime Compliance Working Group
    (‘FCCWG’) of the ACOI.  The FCCWG’s aims include providing members of the
    ACOI with a forum for discussion and the sharing of views on Anti-money
    laundering /Countering the Financing of Terrorism / International Financial
    Sanctions / Anti-bribery and Corruption (referred to collectively as ‘financial
    crime’) issues.  It also identifies issues which may impact on ACOI
    members in their day to day functions as Financial Crime Compliance Officers
    and seeks to support and empower through education.

    New: DPC Guidance on DPIAs

    Today the Data Protection Commission issued a List of Processes which will require a DPIA to be undertaken. This list will be discussed at the ACOI’s DPIAs workshop event next Monday, 19th November 2018.

    Niall Gallagher Professional Diploma in Compliance Scholarship Now Open

    The Association of Compliance Officers in Ireland (ACOI), is delighted to announce the opening of the third Niall Gallagher Professional Diploma in Compliance Scholarship competition.

    The Scholarship promotes the importance of further education and recognition of professional certification in the advancement of an individual in their career in Compliance and is open to ACOI members and the general public.

    This year’s essay topic is entitled “Embedding Compliance in the business to achieve an enduring and commercially successful culture”.

    Entries should be emailed to education@acoi.ie and with the subject line The Niall Gallagher Professional Diploma in Compliance Scholarship 18-19. The closing date for entries is 19th October 2018.
