The Association of Compliance Officers in Ireland was established in November 2002. It is a ‘not for profit’ company limited by guarantee and has charitable status.

Its purpose is:

  • To promote, for the public benefit, the advancement and dissemination of knowledge, information, views and ideas in the field of regulatory compliance and business ethics
  • To provide training and conduct examinations in regulatory compliance and business ethics
  • To promote high ethical standards among all persons engaged in regulatory compliance.

Structure

The affairs of the Association are overseen by the members of Council, which consists of 12 elected members, who govern the Association.

The work of the Council is supported by its sub-committees: Finance, Risk and Administration, Audit, Membership, Education and Professional Development Services, Ethics, as well as a network of working groups: AML, Consumer Protection, Credit Union, Data Protection & Technology, Funds, Pensions and Prudential Regulation and Governance.

The day to day affairs of the Association are managed by the Executive, led by the Chief Executive Officer.

 

Executive Staff

Evelyn Cregan, FCA, Chief Executive Officer (CEO)  

Evelyn joined the Association in July 2015. Evelyn has held a variety of roles in education and financial services sectors. Previously, Evelyn held the position of Head of School in Dublin Business School, the largest private third level education provider in Ireland. Prior to that, Evelyn lectured in UCD Quinn and Michael Smurfit Graduate Schools of Business over a ten year period. Evelyn worked in financial services as Managing Director of National Westminster Reinsurance Limited. Evelyn completed her Chartered Accountant training with KPMG, Dublin.

Emily Glen – Events and Communications Coordinator

Emily joined the ACOI as Events and Communications Coordinator in 2017, having previously worked as the Communications and Campaigns Manager in the Irish Council for Civil Liberties. Previously, Emily was a Research and Events Executive with the British Irish Chamber of Commerce. With experience of managing a series of high profile events including a national film festival, international business conferences and black tie gala dinners, Emily brings a wealth of experience to her role with the ACOI. Emily has a BA in International Relations and an MSc in International Political Science from Trinity College, Dublin.

Kate O’Toole Murphy – Membership Services Executive

Kate was appointed to the position of Membership Services Executive in January 2018. She has gained valuable experience in marketing and event management in both Dublin and Australia. Kate has worked in a number of different industries including media, IT, age care and philanthropy. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies from the University of Limerick and a Masters in Marketing Practice from the National University of Ireland, Galway.

Niamh Hickey – Office Administrator 

Niamh Hickey joined the ACOI as Office Administrator in 2018. Niamh brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked extensively across Dublin, Australia and New Zealand. Niamh studied Multi Media in IADT and Computer Applications in DCU.

Yevgeniy Podkladnev 

Yevgeniy joined the ACOI Executive team in 2017. Previously he worked on various start-up projects in the renewable energy sectors in Ireland and Asia. He held a compliance coordination role in EirGrid Plc, providing compliance support to the electricity system and market operation across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Yevgeniy became a Licentiate Compliance Officer in 2015 and holds a graduate diploma in Financial Services from UCD. He recently joined ACOI Ethics Committee and has been a member of the Association since 2014.
