Michael Kavanagh

CEO 

Michael Kavanagh

Role:  As CEO of the ACOI, Michael is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the association as well as managing its overall operations

Background:  Michael is a Board member and Chair of the audit committee of Carmichael, vice chair of the Sport Ireland/FAI Governance Oversight Group, a council member and Chair of the Education Committee of CPA Ireland, a member of the CRSC Consultative Working Group for ESMA, and a member of the Irish committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales.

Michael’s previous roles included CEO of IAASA (The Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority), Director of DPP with KPMG Ireland, Technical Director at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants, lecturer in DBS, examiner, moderator, solution writer for the professional examinations of various accountancy bodies and the Irish Observer at the then Corporate Reporting Council of the FRC which produced the accounting standards for use in the UK and Ireland.

Ciara Lambe

Head of Operations 

Ciara Lambe

Role: As Head of Operations, Ciara is responsible for the day-to-day management of the operating units of the association which consist of Membership Services, Professional Development and Communications. Ciara also plays a key role in ensuring the continued quality and relevance of the ACOI’s Education programmes.

Background:  Ciara joined the ACOI in April 2020. With a background in education and training, Ciara has over 20 years’ experience as an Operations and People Manager, having previously worked in Dunlin Business School, with responsibility for developing and maintaining an exceptional team of over 100 Faculty Members from the Arts, Counselling & Psychotherapy, ICT, Law and Psychology departments. Prior to this Ciara worked in EY and managed all aspects of EY’s Professional Education and Graduates Experience.

Mervyn O'Shaugnessy

Head of Operations 

Mervyn O'Shaugnessy

Role:  As Business Development Manager, Mervyn is responsible for strategic business development and marketing initiatives at the ACOI. 

Background:  Mervyn has extensive commercial experience and a background in media, technology and professional services. As CEO of the Sales Institute of Ireland for over four years, Mervyn was responsible for developing an extensive programme of corporate events and achieving significant membership growth. He has also worked in the litigation funding industry in a senior commercial capacity for Claims Funding Europe, an Irish based subsidiary of Australia's premier class action law firm, Maurice Blackburn Lawyers. In this role, Mervyn he was responsible for client acquisition in large private enforcement actions in the Netherlands on behalf of victims of corporate misconduct, specifically regarding cartels and shareholder claims.

Mervyn is a member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland and a graduate of the UCD Smurfit Business School where he completed a post graduate diploma (NFQ Level 9) in Strategic Sales Management. 

Michael Hurl

Events & Communications Coordinator

Michael Hurl

Role:  As Events & Communications Coordinator, Michael's role involves the managing of in-person/online events and the ACOI’s podcast series,  the Compliance Files .

Background: Michael joined the ACOI as Events & Communications Co-Ordinator in June 2018. Michael’s background in event management has seen him help in the conceptualisation and delivery of festivals, galas and award ceremonies. He has delivered events across the globe and, while working for UCD Alumni Relations, developed a number of projects that helped re-engage graduates with their colleges and schools in addition to delivering their large-scale events. Prior to this, Michael worked in the insurance industry. Michael has a degree in Politics & Geography and qualifications in Public Relations & Event Management as well as Executive Coaching.

Sinead Stoneham

Office Admin & Membership Services Executive

Sinead Stoneham

Role:  As Office Administrator and Membership Services Executive, Sinead provides assistance to ACOI members, helping them with their membership renewals, designations, education queries and invoicing.

Background: Sinead joined the ACOI executive as Office Administrator in 2018 and recently took up the role of Office Administrator and Member Services Executive.

Pauric Keegan

Digital Content & Customer Experience Executive

Pauric Keegan

Role:  As Digital Content and Customer Experience Executive, Pauric’s role involves improving the online experience of ACOI members and supporters and creating engaging digital content.

Background:  Pauric joined the ACOI executive in 2021 as Digital Content and Customer Experience Executive. Prior to this, he worked in the Asthma Society of Ireland for over three years as a Communications Officer and also has experience working in the broadcasting industry. Pauric graduated from Maynooth University in 2016 with an honors degree in Digital Media and has recently completed the Digital Marketing and Strategy Diploma at Dublin Business School (DBS).
