GDPR (The EU General Data Protection Regulation) comes into force on 25th May 2018 and the ACOI is holding two events to help members, particularly Data Protection Officers (DPOs), in implementing GDPR within their organisations.

Event 1: Advanced GDPR for DPOs – Dublin

This event will be an opportunity for attendees to hear insights and suggestions from an expert panel of practitioners, to ask questions of them and to discuss common issues with your fellow DPOs and others involved in GDPR.

This event is open to all but will assume a good working knowledge of Data Protection and GDPR.

The panel of expert speakers will comprise:

    • John Magee, Partner at William Fry, will discuss the practice and legal implications of being a DPO;
    • Mary Colhoun CDPO, Director of Data Protection, Eir, will provide a DPO’s perspective; and
    • Kevin Sweeney, IT Director and DPO for CPL Group, will speak as a CIO/DPO on the practicalities of GDPR in day to day operations..

The workshop will be chaired by Aisling Clarke CDPO, Director ACOI & Chair of ACOI’s DPT WG, Data Privacy Consultant.

To ensure we answer as many questions as possible and to facilitate a healthy discussion between the panelists and attendees, DPOs are invited to submit their questions for the panel in advance – by cob on Monday 12th March – by filling out the submission form HERE.  Questions will not be attributed to any individual or organisation unless that is their stated wish.  In the event that a number of questions are submitted on the same topic/issue, ACOI will put forward a composite question on the day.
